Seed

VR Interactive Story, 2016

SEED is an interactive VR experience we made in 2 weeks at CMU. I was the Producer, 2D/3D artist, and UX Designer in a team of 5.

The story/gameplay was inspired by Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway. If we continue to act recklessly and ignore the ecosystem, will the doomsday be closer than we think? Will we have a second chance? If the “machines” can survive through it, will they be able to help us?

SEED has been adopted by the Robotics Institute of School of Computer Science in 2016 to be further developed into a health training game which is controlled with a prosthetic arm training device.

Backstory

The seed bank was supervised by a scientist who created a companion robot, Coco, in his spare time. When the disaster happened, the scientist went to get the refugees but never came back. Years passed by. One day, Coco (you) wakes up in the lab being the last ‘life’ on the Earth. Coco has to find the right elements to restore life and humanity. Maybe it will take even more than that.
